Easy, Simple Self Help Tips For Relief From Herpes OutBreaks

The following are some of the tips I give out every day on the Herpes Life Forums to people who are suffering from the symptoms of Herpes. Everything suggested has been shown to help at least *some* of the readers …. what works for one may not work for another.  I’ll add more as I learn of new things that seem to get good feedback for results, so check back occasionally to see if there’s anything new. • One of the biggest factors is to attack the outbreak aggressively with whatever works for you (including Acyclovir) the minute you recognize the early symptoms. Anti-virals work best if you get them in your system within 72 hrs of the onset, and the same goes for any of these tips.
  • Go Commando as much as possible – getting air to the area can help to dry it out more quickly. Loose, cotton clothing helps a lot – boxer shorts for guys and long skirts for girls can come in very handy for OB’s. Tight clothing that keeps the area warm and moist feeds the virus.
  • If it hurts to pee, either pee in the shower or pour a cup of water over the area as you pee to dilute the urine . This one has been reported to be a lifesaver for many. And don’t restrict how much you drink – you want to drink MORE so you dilute the urine… concentrated urine not only stings more but makes you more susceptible to UTI’s … which is the LAST thing  you want during an OB!
  • Reduce stress as much as possible –  Herpes feeds off stress!!! It can become a good barometer for you that your body needs attention in some form or other.
  • Look up Trigger Foods/triggers on Google (I’ll do an article on them soon!) – there are lots of topics on them … the main foods are chocolate and nuts but you want to learn about the Lysine/Argenine balance that can help keep Herpes under control
  • Epsom Salts baths can do wonders for some. Sit in the bath and dump a few handfuls of the salts right between your legs. Relax and let the salts do their thing then get out and dry off, finishing with a blow drier set on low heat to really get the area dry.
  • Use a blow drier set on low after anything that will make the area wet ..the more you can keep the area dry the easier you can gain control of the outbreak
  • My *personal* favorite has been Ammonium Alum. It’s not easy to find in stores but you can get it at Amazon (link below – I plan to start marketing it myself soon). You can either dab a few grains directly on the area of the outbreak (if it’s open it WILL sting a LOT!) or you can make a strong solution with it if that is too painful for you. Alum is an astringent so it really dries out the area. I can clear an OB in 2-3 days with this and taking Acyclovir for 1-3 days (depending on how early I catch it) but I’ve had Herpes for 35 years so my body fights it well too.
  • Aloe Vera CREAM – Not the Gel which has a lot of alcohol in it. Make sure ALOE is one of the first ingredients and there isn’t a bunch of other crap like petroleum, and if it has glycerin, it’s AFTER the Aloe in the ingredients.
  • Fractionated Coconut Oil – many claim that Coconut Oil helps to shorten outbreaks and reduce pain. Fractionated Coconut Oil has all the benefits of regular Coconut Oil but without the smell, staining, and the bonus is that the active anti-viral properties are concentrated and thus this option should give even better results!  More info HERE.
  • Zinc cream  (like Desitin) may help during the day to keep it from sticking and help relieve the pain.
